This week the XIV International Dance Campus of Valencia has started, organized by the Association of Dance and Art of the Mediterranean (ADAM), in collaboration with the Hortensia Herrero Foundation. This edition will have a total of 112 participants from different autonomous communities and abroad.
This International Campus has had the support of the Hortensia Herrero Foundation for ten years. Thanks to this entity, this meeting is held at the La Petxina Cultural and Sports Complex, of the Municipal Sports Foundation. In addition, the Foundation grants 15 young dancers from the Valencian Community. Five of these scholarships, in addition to the training of the Campus itself, include room and board.
The International Dance Campus of Valencia is a meeting of dance students and professional dancers directed by the Valencian Gema Casino Penalba that celebrates its fourteenth edition this year and has once again exhausted all available places. These are eleven days in which students live by and for dance in a privileged environment such as the Petxina Complex. Thanks to this Campus, young dance students have the opportunity, on the one hand, to improve their technique and, on the other, to work on the artistic part through extracts from pieces by internationally renowned choreographers. The program includes classical dance classes, men’s technique, pointe technique and physical preparation for dancers.
As in the last two editions, ADAM has reached several agreements with different national and international companies, such as the National Dance Company, IT Dansa, the Hannover Ballet, to be able to grant stays to outstanding Campus participants and in this way that They can experience the day to day of a company. Other stays will also be offered for the Royal Professional Dance Conservatory of Madrid and the Professional Dance School of Castilla y León, in Valladolid.
The director of the Campus highlighted that for this edition “we once again have a great team of professionals who during these days will transmit to the participants the passion for this art. In addition, thanks to the support of the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, we can offer magnificent conditions and facilities that manage to position this Campus in the city of Valencia as a benchmark in this field”.
The team of professionals led by Gema Casino and Fabrice Edelmann is made up of José Carlos Blanco, Emmanuelle Broncin, Laura Fernández, Luis Gadea, María López, Pilar Nevado, Ludovico Pace and Juan Polo, all of them great figures in the world of dance from great international prestige.
The Closing Show will be held at the Ribarroja Municipal Auditorium on August 25 at 5:30 p.m., with free admission. In this exhibition, everything worked by the participants during the Campus will be staged, putting a finishing touch to the closing of this edition.
